Tesla begins production of its electric truck Tesla Semi, CEO Elon Musk has announced on Twitter. Tesla has started production of its first electric truck, the Tesla Semi. The automaker wants to deliver the first trucks to US customers in December.
Tesla unveiled the electric truck in November 2017. At the time, this was quite unique, but now the car manufacturer has competition from Volvo, among others.
In August, Tesla boss Elon Musk had already announced that the trucks, which have a range of more than 800 kilometers on a full battery, will be delivered this year. But the Tesla CEO more often sets deadlines that are not met.
PepsiCo, the maker of Pepsi and Lay’s chips, among others, will receive the first copy, according to Musk. The company has ordered a total of one hundred Tesla Semi-trucks. PepsiCo wants to put the first fifteen units into operation this year.
