Orange to invest in Polish fiber optics

Orange will invest in fiber connections in Poland together with APG pension investor. The French telecom company announced it on Monday.

The EUR 605 million joint venture will connect 1.7 million households in Poland to the fibre network over the next five years, in areas where high-speed internet is restricted or absent.

In total, the joint company will have 2.4 million lines.

According to the agreement, Orange Polska receives zloty 1,374 million, or 303 million euros, from APG. 65% of this will be paid when the contract is concluded and the rest will be paid in the coming years.

A few weeks ago, Dutch pension investor APG concluded an agreement with KPN for the connection of 910,000 Dutch households to the fibre network. As a result, nearly 1,000 villages in the Netherlands are connected earlier than planned.
