Chinese FedEx investigation is not retaliation

C

The fact that China has launched an investigation into FedEx should not be seen as a retribution in the continuing trade feud between China and the United States. According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, the investigation is purely and solely aimed at alleged violations of Chinese laws and regulations by the American company.

Beijing recently said that FedEx has undermined the “legitimate rights and interests” of Chinese customers by not delivering Chinese packages to the right customers. It is reported that these are packages from the Chinese technology group Huawei that were incorrectly delivered by FedEx.

Beijing is now threatening to put FedEx on a list of so-called “unreliable foreign companies” because the interests of Chinese companies have been damaged. With that, China could take revenge for the placement of Huawei on the Washington blacklist.
