KLM Cityhopper is considering installing more seats in the Embraer 190. “We want to give the cabs a complete facelift”, says director Warner Rootliep. After the redesign, the plane may take eight more passengers.
The first Embraer 190, of which KLM Cityhopper currently has 32, was taken into use ten years ago.
We are playing with the idea of replacing the seats, installing larger luggage boxes and installing LED lighting. There must also be USB charging points.
The Embraer 190 has a hundred seats, but that can be 108 after the upgrade. In this way, more capacity is created network-wide, which is much needed by the crowds at busy British airport of Schiphol.

The space for extra seats has to be created by removing the front of the wardrobe and introducing thinner seats.
In addition to the Embraer 190, KLM Cityhopper also has the smaller Embraer 175+ in its fleet. It has 88 seats.
