The American automaker Ford managed to sell a lot more cars in the third quarter. Pick-up trucks and SUVs were most popular choice. In the first half of the year, the automaker recovered strongly from the previous COVID losses.
Ford’s results were far better than expected. The company’s turnover was 37.5 billion dollars. That was more than the 34 billion dollars that were taken into account in the market as a whole. In addition, Ford managed to sell cars on average 8 percent more expensive than a year earlier.
The profit was, therefore, considerably higher than expected, at USD 3.6 billion. On an annual basis, there was even a doubling. In particular, the new F-150 pickup sells particularly well. In addition, Ford, like other industry representatives, also benefited from the strong pick-up car market in the US.
Ford has recently been led by Jim Farley. He took over from Jim Hackett on October 1st. In addition to the success with the F-150, Farley is counting on success with the electric Mustang Mach-E and the polished SUV Bronco.
