The American credit card provider Mastercard buys part of the Danish payment service provider Nets. This concerns the majority of services for companies, such as direct payments and electronic bills. Mastercard pays just under 2.9 billion euros for this.
The takeover still needs to be approved by all kinds of regulators. Mastercard expects the deal to be completed in the first half of 2020.
In the first two years, the acquisition has made little contribution to Mastercard’s results. This includes the purchase price and integration costs. By taking over the Nets component, MasterCard claims to strengthen its ability to make payments from one account to another.
