The major oil service provider Schlumberger has appointed Operational Director Olivier Le Peuch as new CEO. On 1 August he took over from Paal Kibsgaard, who had been the head of the American-French company for eight years.
Le Peuch has been working at Schlumberger for 32 years in various top positions. Sources had already reported that he had a good chance of being appointed chairman of the board. Kibsgaard worked for the company for more than 22 years and is now retiring.
Schlumberger also came with quarterly figures. Turnover remained virtually the same at $8.3 billion compared to a year earlier. Net profit increased by 14 percent to $492 million.
