T-Mobile will close or reprofile all Tele2 stores in 2019, T-Mobile spokespersons confirm Thursday after reporting by market analyst Telecompaper.
The branch in Alkmaar was already closed last Monday. The other sixteen stores will follow in the course of this year, a spokesperson said.
The stores are closed because T-Mobile wants to position the Tele2 brand online. Customers with questions about a Tele2 product cannot go to a T-Mobile location once the brand stores are closed.
It is not known when all Tele2 stores will be closed. It is also unclear which locations will continue as a T-Mobile store from now on.
The spokespersons of T-Mobile emphasize that all store employees who are directly employed by Tele2 will keep their jobs.
In December 2017, T-Mobile announced its intention to take over Tele2. The European Commission agreed to this after an investigation last November. The acquisition was formally completed in January.
