The annual International Economic Forum “Caspian Dialogue 2019” was held in Moscow. Participating countries have presented their innovations and programs aimed to environmental protection of the largest lake on the planet.
Aselle Tasmagambetova, the president of Saby foundation has taken part as speaker for Republic of Kazakhstan. She presented a report dedicated to shrinking numbers of Caspian seal and the means of preventing it from total extinction. Caspian seal (Pusa caspica) is endemic to the waters and coast of Caspian sea.
Saby foundation in cooperation with Central Asian Institute for Environmental studies develops the seal research, conservation and rehabilitation project. This problem can be solved only by joining the forces of all Caspian nations as seals are migratory. As for now Russia, Kazakhstan and Iran are paying high attention to it. In Kazakhstan’s Aqtau a center for research and rehabilitation has been opened. The center was opened and operates with the support of Aselle Tasmagambetova’s Saby foundation. This center is unique for the entire region.
Personal of the Center are gathering sick and weakened seals. Skilled zoologists and veterinary doctors are treating them until they are ready to be reintroduces to the nature again. Personal is tracking the population of the seals. The Seal preservation center incorporates three major and three smaller pools, veterinary and research apparatuses, water quality monitors and blood test systems.
It is only one of the branches of the extensive Saby charity activities. The foundation opened by Aselle Tasmagambetova, Kenes Rakishev and other prominent Kazakhstan social activists and businessmen is working 17 years at improving the environment, combating poverty and inequality in education.
