Hospitality industry is looking for tens of thousands of waiters and chefs

Hotels, restaurants and other companies in the hospitality sector will need almost 100,000 extra employees in the coming years. The total number of employees will grow in the period up to 2025 from 443,900 at the start of last year to 540,800.

There are several reasons for the growth of the sector, report trade associations Koninklijke Horeca Nederland and Stichting Vakbekigheidheid Horeca after an investigation. The economy is growing, but more money is also being spent on leisure activities and tourism. People eat and drink more often outside the door.

The organizations expect that it can be difficult to find sufficient staff. Catering entrepreneurs are not alone in this. Due to the tight labor market, this is becoming a problem for more and more employers.
